SO CLOSE IN FINALS RACE FOR BOTH Div 1 and Div 2. CAN GIRLS CREATE A LITTLE HISTORY WITH AN UPSET WI

Well it’s finals time again. Both Div 1 and 2 finals are on next Tuesday March 28.

In Div 1 the top 4 teams will play semi first then the winners will face it off in the grand final on the same night.

SEMI FINAL 1 Mooloolaba (Alan Bruhn + Jayde Treloar) v Maroochydore (Luke Thomson + Dan Ettel)

SEMI FINAL 2 Buderim (Adam Wood + Ian Oakley) v Sippy Downs (Paul Green + Dale Parkes)

If you look at the results elsewhere on this web site, you will notice that in terms of games won, there is a maximum of 4 games difference between any of the top 6 of the 8 teams for the whole season. Well done team selectors! It is great to see Ian Oakley back where he deserves to be (after once again persevering in Div 2 using his left arm as his right tries to recover). I think most people would agree that there are not too many people as keen and dedicated to table tennis as Ian. He is also always willing and able to help all-comers.

In Div 2 it will be Mountain Creek (Gordon Holden, Nathan Thomas, Steve Rowson + Greg Williams) up against Woombye ( the all-girls team of Linda Yapp, Judy Chin, Desley Payne + Jenny Wyatt). I think the all-girls team are the crowd favourites. If they win, I believe they could create club history as the first all female team to do so. Go the girls!

It was also close in Div 2 with Currumundi (John Ettel, Colin Rule, Gary Kiorgaard + Peter Fisher) coming within 2 matches of snatching the 2nd spot last Tuesday with a big 11-2 win.
