TEAMS LOOK PRETTY EVEN + STANDARD AT AN ALL TIME HIGH AFTER FIRST NIGHT OF WINTER 2017 FIXTURES

It seems that selectors have done a worthy job with team selections. In Division 1, 9 out of 10 results on the night were 3-2. While in Division 2, all results were either 6-5 or 7-4.

It was also arguably the highest standard of fixtures ever seen on the Sunshine Coast. A number of top players are coming back after various breaks from fixtures. This includes Christian Huen, Seng Joo Keng, and Gerrit Fialla. There are a few exciting players either joining or about to join the club. One is Colin Noh. Another is a very exciting player, “Vincent” from France who, word has it, was a French junior champion not that long ago and is returning to table tennis after a surfing sojourn. He is showing all the skills. Hopefully we will see Vincent join fixtures shortly. Several very able players have put themselves down on the substitutes list – namely Paul Green, Jim Kenworthy, Peng Yu, Jan Yu and Greg Beattie. Paul, Jim, Peng and Jan were all required last week.

Then we have a host of top notch players returning for another season - Luke Thomson, Jerrod Thomson, Martin Tribe, Alan Bruhn, Adam Wood, Michael Wilson, Jimmy Yang, Ken Hay,Ian Oakley, Charlie Murong, Danny Yeung and Patrick Keating .

And finally we have players of the future like Jayde Treloar and Dan Ettel ready to strike when their older counterparts falter.

I’m also expecting Mike Rogers, who is the only Division 2 player to be promoted, to have some wins after a very solid summer season.

Results from the first week will be posted shortly.
