Sunshine Coast Raid on the Kiwis
The All Blacks might be giving us a lesson in Rugby at the moment, but Alan Bruhn and Martin Tribe crossed the ditch last month and gave them a bit of a lesson in table tennis. They travelled to Christchurch to play in the New Zealand Vets Championships over Easter and came back with a swag of medals.
In the 65's Teams event, they beat all NZ Teams, finishing up with a 3rd place bronze on count-back - almost a silver.
Teaming up for the Men's 65's doubles, they knocked off the #2 seeds but lost in the final, getting a silver.
Alan also won Gold in the 70's Men's Doubles and Bronze in the 65's Mixed Doubles.
In the singles events, Martin had a run in the 60's knocking off 2 seeded players to reach the semi final, with a Bronze. The 65's singles ended up with our two guys playing each other in the Quarter Finals, and after a bash fest Alan got through to the semi final, picking up a bronze.
Overall, 8 medals, a good result for our growing club. Have a look in the “New Gallery” on this web site to see a few photos of the conquerors.
