Plenty of action at Sunshine Coast Club

There is plenty of action with Sunshine Coast players at the moment.

Congratulations to the 5 players who represented our club at the State Veteran Championships at Mackay. They only got back early Tuesday morning then had to front up at fixtures that night. They were Judy Chin, Linda Yapp, Ken Hay, Alan Bruhn and Jerrod Thomson. And all tasted success. See Ken Hay’s Report (next blog) for all the details and photos.

This Saturday we have the Sunshine Coast Closed Tournament at our Maroochydore Headquarters. Action starts at 9.00am with warm ups from 8.30am. I know that last year’s Open Male Champion, Adam Wood, will be there to defend his title and I am pretty sure the women’s reigning champion, Jan Yu, will also be there.

And finally there is only one more week of fixtures before the finals of the Winter Season on August 14. In Division 1, 5 of the 8 teams are still in contention while in Division 2, the finalists seem set in stone and will be fought out between minor premiers the Sunflowers and the Daffodils. The Sunflowers comprise Russell Treloar, Bruce Taylor replacing Gordon Falkingham, and Steven Parke replacing Ian Thomas. The Daffodils comprise Danny Yeung, Jim Kyle and Gary Kiorgaard. They only met a week and a half ago with Sunflowers getting their nose ahead 6-5. I predict the doubles will be critical.
