2021 Queensland Veterans Championships

Report by Team Manager Ken Hay

Sixteen Sunshine Coast players – Ladies - Sharon Matherson & Lorraine Granger-Brown ( over 30 Women’s Team )

Desley Payne & Judy Chin ( over 60 Women’s Team ) and Heather Gillespie ( over 60 President Team )


Men – David Gillard (over 50 President Team ), Paul Green, Martin Tribe, Jim Kenworthy ( over 60 A Team ),

Patrick Keating & Greg Yu ( over 60 B Team ), Alan Bruhn & Ken Hay ( over 70 A Team ) and Eric Frangenheim,

Paul Kwaczynski, Manfred Franklin ( over 60 B Team )


For most players in the State Veterans the aim is to perform well enough to get selection to play for Queensland in the Australian Veteran Championships which will be held in Darwin in October this year.

All our players that nominated were selected.


The over 60 team of Paul Green, Martin Tribe & Jim Kenworthy were the only team medal winners for the Sunshine Coast getting Silver Medal ( 2nd place ) out of a field of 9 teams.


Apart from the Teams Events, medals were won in the individual events.

Over 65 Mens Singles – Bronze

Over 60 Mens Doubles with Jim Kenworthy – Bronze
